NEWS FLASH: Sex Was
God's Idea
The way some people act you might think they
invented sex.
The way some religious people act you would think
that people invented sex and God really didn't approve, but since it
is the only way to get more people, He kind of tolerates it.
The truth is GOD INVENTED SEX! It was God's
idea. He created the feeling, emotions and even the physical
pleasure of sex. He didn't create a man and a woman, leaving the
sex part to chance. His creative purpose was in every aspect of
mankind's being.
So what does that mean? It means...
-
God created sex with a purpose just as He created
everything with a purpose.
-
God intended his creation to enjoy the pleasures
and blessing of the sexual relationship between a husband and wife.
-
God created us as sexual beings - male and
female.
-
Sex, when practiced within the guidelines laid
out by God, is not dirty.
-
Our sexuality is a very powerful part of our
lives, physically, emotionally and even spiritually.
-
That because sex is so powerful God had to put
boundaries on it to protect people abuse.
People tend to think that God disapproves of sex.
This isn't true at all. Remember it was His idea in the first
place.
What God disapproves of is the misuse of sex.
Because it is so power, physically, mentally and even spiritually it
has the power to destroy people as well as create new life.
It is this very thing that God wanted to protect us
from. Today people seem to think, "what's the big deal if we want to
have fun?"
Because God created the concept of sex He also
knows the potential dangers. This is why he placed boundaries
around it. It wasn't to be a killjoy. It was so a man and a
woman could enjoy the benefits and blessings of sex without the
potential destruction. Placed within the framework of a loving,
committed (covenantal) relationship sex was to to be a powerful force
to bond a man and woman together and keep them together.
Sex is a two edged sword. There are physical,
emotional and spiritual pleasures and benefits when practiced
properly, but there are can also be physical, emotional and spiritual
destruction when used improperly.
What God wants to protect you from:
-
AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases -
faithful, loving married couples do not have to worry about this
- every year 3 million teens will get a sexually transmitted disease
(STD). Every day over 8000 teens will contract a STD. This is
JUST teens and does not include 20-60 year olds who are sexually
active.
-
From emotional destruction - how many children
have been sexually abused? How many young men and woman have
had there lives ruined by a single sexual encounter? How many
marriages have destroyed by adultery. How many children have
been emotionally scarred by family breakups? Sexual active
girls are three times more likely to be depressed and sexually
active boys at two times more likely to be depressed then their
virgin peers.
-
Pregnancy - Over 1 million teen pregnancies occur
each year - 85% are unplanned and over 40% end in abortion.
How many young women have had their lives changed by one night in
the back seat of a car. Don't think it can happen to you?
Neither did the other 1 million girls! It costs our society
over $7 billion dollars per year to pay for governmental services
for unwed teen pregnancies. 80% of unwed teen mothers who
choose to raise their child will live in poverty for the next 10
years,
-
Abortion - Nearly 1 million women have abortions
each year. Many of them suffer guilt and other emotional
traumas for years afterwards.
-
Broken marriages and families. The
stability of our culture and society is being destroyed by a divorce
rate of over 50%. Second marriages have a higher divorce rate.
The impact on men and women, not to mention children is devastating
and continues to create widespread emotional and societal problems.
-
Sexual Assault - Every 2 1/2 minutes someone in
the U.S. is sexually assaulted. There are over 200,000 rapes
or attempted rapes each year and 1 in every 6 women has been
sexually assaulted and 44% of rape victims are under the age of 18.
-
Spiritual destruction - God says sexual
immorality (in all forms, including homosexuality) is a sin and that
there are spiritual consequences for sin, not only in this life, but
in eternity.
God does not want your life destroyed now or later.
It is in His love and wisdom that He placed boundaries on the powerful
issues of sexuality.
You can see that the improper use of sex not only
causes untold misery for individuals and families, but has devastating
effects that continue to trickle through our society.
Like a wise father that warns his children about
playing in the street, God warms His children about the dangers
of playing outside the moral boundaries He has put in place concerning
sex.
And, like kids who think they know better then dear
old dad how fun it is to play in the street, and how careful they will
be, people ignore the warnings and suffer the consequences. Strangely
enough, when something bad happens they find a way to blame God for
it.
Pregnancy, rape, STDs, Abortion, Divorce ... Oh, I
know, it could never happen to you. Just ask the millions of
other people who were sure it would never happen to them either.

What Does the Bible
Say About That?

Quotations From the Bible
God doesn't have a problem with
sex, He created sex and has told mankind that within the bounds of
marriage that it was to be enjoyed by husbands and wives.
Here are some plain scriptures
that warn us against sexual immortality
"Let marriage be held in honor
by all, and let the marriage bed be kept undefiled; for God will judge
fornicators (those who have sex outside of marriage) and
adulterers."
Hebrews 13:4
"Shun fornication (sex
outside of marriage). Every sin that a person commits is outside
the body; but the fornicator sins against the body itself.
I Corinthians 6:18
"Do you not know that
wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived!
Fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, male prostitutes, sodomites
(homosexuals) —none of these will inherit the
kingdom of God."
I Corinthians 6:9-10
"But as for the cowardly, the
faithless, the polluted, the murderers, the fornicators
(sexually immoral), the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars,
their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which
is the second death."
Revelation 21:8
"So God let them go
ahead and do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a
result, they did vile and degrading things with each other's bodies.
Instead of believing what they knew was the truth about God, they
deliberately chose to believe lies. So they worshiped the things God
made but not the Creator himself, who is to be praised forever. Amen.
That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the
women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged
in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual
relationships with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did
shameful things with other men and, as a result, suffered within
themselves the penalty they so richly deserved. When they refused to
acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their evil minds and let them do
things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every
kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, fighting,
deception, malicious behavior, and gossip."
